2008 The End

Where did that one go… Wow, it’s coming to an end as they always do. What a great year this has been. Started out a bit cold but always clear to take the bike out. Back in January I cycled by night. Thinking one night I was heading into the dark unknown considering if God could really be out there. I cycled around a corner in the pitch black a bit apprehensive of thing around the corner. Asking God to take care of me if he was around. Then it seemed as if the sky cleared from it’s cloudiness and the path in front of me lit up by a full moon. Someone switched on the light. It was ace, I cycled four miles along the canal without the spot light. This was were I came up into town and saw the Church and thought I’ll drop by on Sunday. The first church day came and went with me thinking I don’t know what to do. It so happened a friend of Michelle's was part of this church and got one of the clergy to get in touch. It went from there… I gave my life to Jesus. Believe me; it’s not an easy ...

Earth Hour

Earth Hour. 28th March 2009 I had this sent to me today from Richard at the Thatcham Good Life. Looks like something that's getting big for all the right reasons. Take a look at the video; the website is at the bottom also. Let's see if we can make the change for the right reasons. Awareness of the issue is the first step in geting people to make the difference. http://www.panda.org/about_wwf/what_we_do/climate_change/what_you_can_do/earth_hour/

A place in history where I can bring Ben back to every now and again. Ben is my eldest son; a good lad, hard working doing well at school and is blessed with a great personality. I'm sure he should have been a blond though. What he lacks in common sense I suppose he tries to make up in good looks. When he was younger on occasions when he would go to the shop or chip shop he would always get the order wrong; either not enough or the wrong type of whatever he was buying. We got used to it and started to really lay down what he needed to buy and sometimes wrote a list for him. As he got to the age of fifteen he started to get it right because he would ask questions and fear me giving him a hard time at my pleasure and his expense ( Healthy Banter ) as a friend of mine used to say 'character building'. This all changed tonight.... Michelle and Dominik are away to see the family so that leaves me, Ben and Joshua to look after ourselves. It was getting late and after a cool TV m...

I Finished

Decorating the Kitchen this week. Hmmm, why put that here...? I can finally have my life back from renovation. Never never again will I take on a wreck to fix up....

Thatcham to Tipton

Image
Hopefully the first big ride of the year Thatcham to Tipton. Planning this for next year. Thatcham canal the Kennet and Avon into Reading and then cross onto the The Thames path upto Oxford. From Oxford join the Grand Union to Tipton. Should be over 2 days with a stop off at a B&B along the way. I've been thinking of doing the ride for a cause; maybe the for awareness of environmental issues. I'll need to discuss this with Terry. He's coming along for the experience. It should be good, pretty easy too because it's all flat work. I've been looking around for maps for Memory Map to plan the route and a stop off. I have most of the South but the middle bit through Oxford and Worcestershire are all missing. If anyone has them available that would be great to get a copy :-) That's it for this entry. I'll try to start blogging more. I've done so much this year that would make good reading; for me anyways. Well here's to the future and next years riding...

On the way home from the Isle of Wight for the last time this year. Be back next year, festivals and cycling.... Maybe to work. I'll ask the Lord for that one. Back stage at the V Fest, before the 4 stage was finished being built. This was our only backstage access. When there was no one there!.... Say hi to Berkshire Bacon. A pig farm opposite Beacon Hill. It stinks but the sandwich's are good. Donnington Castle, Nr Newbury. Good cycling, but not as good as Dudley Castle. We have ghosts there, allegedly. Trig Point on the top of Beacon Hill. I cycled all the way to the top... Not! Walked most of it. Good ride though, at the top Lord Canarvon is buried. He found the tomb of King Tutankhamen, robbed it; sorry no! He discovered things for the museum in Britain.. the one he lived in. He got his though, died from the curse apparently...

Halloween 2008

Image
Halloween was great this year. We get lots of kiddies knocking the door trick or treating. This year I thought why not join in. I opened the door quite slow and then did the jumping out Boo! thing. Some jumped out their skin, some just trick or treated but one little one ran off crying to her Dad. I had to give her more sweets than the others. Halloween is about the eve of all Saints day apparently where spirits run around taunting the living... Taunting the living sounds good fun so why not have a go. It's too much fun; chance to hide behind your mask and play kids games. I gave out about 3kilos of sweets. No one wanted to trick me and no one wanted to be tricked. I offered a drink of blood as a treat but no-one wanted it.... Can't think why..... So, playing catch up on the blog, a few more to follow over the coming days!

Killer Video

The Hills Killer video. Put together by Terence. A great ride day on the Isle of Wight, next year you should come join us it's ace. If you can ride a bike for a few mile this one's for you. Enjoy the movie http://tezzywezzywoo-theheisenbergproject.blogspot.com/2008/09/seven-hills-killer.html

Random titles are good.

The only entry on the guestbook (www.pbullox.com) and it's me. Well- what can I tell you? It's time for a change. Lord knows what will happen when I get this straight in my mind. I'm thinking what about a career change! or change of scenery. Whatever happens I'm sure it will be great. All I need do now is get the attitude of those around me sorted. Here it goes..... It's Halloween tomorrow, I've got big plans for the trick or treaters... I'm gonna be ready for em... I have a got a load of sweets so I hope it will all be good. Last year there were about 30 knocks on the door... Oooooooooohhhhhhh .... Taht's what my ghost voice does..... Aaaaaaaaagggggghhhhh .. and that's my zombie voice.

Guess what

After a while I was told... Do what you want- like you usually do. It's not true. I just want a weekend having fun. I am always willing to make up the lost 60 hours from the infinate trillions that are available. Anyways.... I' ve got tickets to the 2009 festival... Weyhey....

I am going

Ask from someone who is less like you and you will not receive. Selfish, narrow minded, anal retentive people not letting folks do what it is good for them because they don't like to think others can have fun without their miserable presence. Do what you want. If it makes you happy just do it- they will get used to it. You only live once. Live to the max because life is eternal. I will live forever, one weekend in June is a small blip in the story of ones life.

Sitting here

Will this work? If it does things will be better from now on. Err, this is just a test

Isle of Wight Seven Hills Killer

It's here again: the time of year where I go on a jolly to the Island to take in the sites and do the Hills Killer challenge. For the past two years I have taken part with my mate Terry and we cycled three hills. This year however we're going to do the seven hills. I promised myself after cycling the South Downs I would do a bit of training and get ready for the event. "Ha!" fat chance of that... I've hardly cycled at all in the past few weeks, too busy at work or getting called out or going to festivals and having flu... It should be good though, 26 miles up and of course back down the big boy hills on the Island. I just need to take my time and go easy. I hope Terry will be happy with that. Over the years we have cycled quite a bit together and he always ends up waiting around for me, the rest should do him good so why break a habit of a lifetime. Last year I snapped my chain on one of the hills so I'll be making sure I've got the joining thingies jus...

Up to here, it's all been great

The first entry for a long old time. Sooo much happening in such a short space of time. I've been cycling but not as much as I would like. I need to be getting ready for the Hills Killer challenge on the Isle of Wight next month. Whilst out and about trying to find some hills to train on I have found a castle near by. I got pictures and all that with kids and I might put them up on here when I get chance. I recently went to the V-Festival in Stafford; I was a festival Angel representing the company and getting around the punters with the name of Virgin Mobile. It was cool, I gave away hundreds of Sim cards with free credit and free beer. I met so many really cool folks. Going there in an official role and being able to help folks really got you in their face. I'm pleased to say the majority really liked us and had a right laugh with us. It's hard work getting up at six after a night on the Strongbow and getting in so late. There was a small Church set up on the site which w...

South Downs Randonee - Broke Me

The story of how, why, when and where. British Heart Foundation’s Randonnée challenge, billed as the toughest one day bike ride across the South Downs Way, suitable for experienced off-road riders! The 28 June 2008 hosted the three challenges of 100 miles, 65 miles and 35 miles. South Downs Way, the longest continuous bridleway in the country, Start at Winchester in Hampshire and finish at Brighton in East Sussex. I chose the 65 mile event. After not being able to do the event last year after Heart troubles it was important to take part this year and do it. It was the hardest cycle I've ever done, ever! It all started with a bowl of corn flakes, a banana and a coffee then a drive in the morning sun from Newbury to Winchester. I signed in at 6:20 and by 6:30 I was on my way. Cycling along a farm track to get to the Downs I was thinking this feels cool, maintaining about 13 - 14mph should be done in about 7hrs.... Dream on pop eye... Before I started I said a prayer for a success...

Seven Hours

Well, seven hours away..... I'm off to bed.. Wish me luck, Pray for success... Thanks everyone for my sponsors, I'll update later.... http://www.justgiving.com/pbullox ooooooooo I'm bricking it.. :-)

South Downs Randonee 2008

Well, It's here this weekend. Errr... I'm having nightmares with my bike.... The steering, the gears, the brakes... arrggghhhhh.. I'm off to the bike shop now.. to get a new rear wheel, bearings and all that... Then tomorrow I'm doing my ride to work run... 17 miles in each direction. I may update my blog with progress.. I'm dreading the ride, not the distance but the fact I can't rely on my bike... I'm sure the LORD can help...

Baptism 17th June 2008

Image
My Baptism took place at St Mary's Church, Shaw near Newbury. It was fantastic. A few select friends and family were amongst the congregation. Michelle, Dominik and Josh. Terence, Kay and Danny were all there to watch the Baptism with other members of my church. It was brilliant, I've already said that haven't I? I arrived to be greeted by Bishop Steven of Reading. He took me through what we will be doing. There were about another 20 people being Baptised, confirmed and welcomed. This made it all the more special having lots of folks on the same Christian journey as me. I asked the clergy at my church if I could have a full immersion baptism instead of a sprinkling. They told me yes initially but costs were about to put the whole thing off. I prayed to the LORD to make the Baptism special and told him my wishes for the full immersion, wow, this prayer was answered better than I ever imagined. We sang a few songs, said a few prayers and then all gathered at the Baptism pool,...

There comes a point..

.. in every ones life when things start to happen. I've not done an entry for a while now, and feel I should pick up again with all the great things going on for me. From moving house to the South and being ill and depressed to; oh well... being happy.. I'm cycling as much as I can! despite number 2 being poorly constantly.. new tyres, bottom bracket, rear mech , cables, inner tubes and soon a new wheel... It's all worth it though.. The reason I decided to get on the blog for this short one is to record some of the brill, ( WKD ) things happening over the next few weeks. Here in order Isle of Wight Festival.... What can I say?.. cost a fortune but is gonna be great. Quality time with my mate Terry and my sister Kay. This is the one that surprises some... You just need to know me I guess... My Baptism, 17 th June, St Mary's in Shaw, when I'll declare my fellowship with the LORD Jesus, The Father and The Holy Spirit. Give thanks and praise for what he did will do a...

Comply Or Die

Image
Grand National day.. And I got the winner. I was reminded at about 2 O'clock to put my bet on, by twenty to five I'd got the winner... cool! Comply or Die, what a name. It tells you something quite deep depending on your views. I bet a fiver at 8-1 so left the bookies with an extra £40. I bet another £6 on a horse Michelle chose but, it didn't even finish ...lol. So here I am £34 up. I promised to donate the winnings to the Heart Foundation so I've pledged it as a sponsor for when I do the South Downs ride. The Winner....

Putting down the miles..

Do I look fat in this?

Indeed, you do.. How did this start? Being told my comments are derogatory even though I am usually asked for the very same comments. I look beautiful, I look sexy- you told me... Yes, I think you are beautiful and sexy but, when you tell me you ate all the chocky biscuits, and I say you look like a bonk oss ! Doesn't mean you literally do look like a bonk oss , it means you'll get fat if you keep eatin all the biscuits. After all, I should know; I'm guilty of eating anything and everything. Have you seen my waistline of late? I'm just fed up of being mis -understood. If I say something that offends or upsets you why not just tell me there and then and I'll try to explain. Instead though, you rare up at me and tell me how bad I am and how self-righteous I am. Well phewee ... that's not my boggle. I couldn't care about being right over what you say. Keep things in context. It's true what I say about my blog being an outlet for my thoughts. I feel bett...

Jesus is Lord

I spoke to a priest Friday about Christianity. He was helpfull and has asked me come along to the churches mens group on March 1st, then the following Sunday go to the mothering Sunday service at St Marys. I've already tried attending a service at the church but found I didn't understand the goings on. The words had meaning but the actions seemed odd. I've never really seen a service like it before, it was Holy Communion. An old dear told me neal at the altar with her-because I'm not christened I couldn't take the bread and wine but could have a blessing. I took the bread and wine anyways. It was the first service I had been to that I listened and understood. When I was young I saw church quite a lot with activities at school, after leaving school all that stopped. My sisters were made to attend Sunday school but I escaped that for some reason. Back to it, I've heard sermons and not seen the meaning until now. I've come in. Next month I start a course to giv...

South Downs 2008

Image
I've signed up to the 65 mile South Downs ride for British Heart Foundation. Last year I was gonna attempt the 35 miler, the route looked quite hard then... this time it looks, well really hard! I'll have to start training I suppose and give my bike a hammering after the winter go slow. There are some massive hills to get over. At the end of the ride I should hopefully get to see a bit of the Brighton sea front. Something to look forward to. All I need to sort now is an event for March or April and the Killers and the Chainbreaker . My bikes got a broken back wheel... it still goes round though, note to self.... When it doesn't go round any more it's no longer a wheel, it's a brake.... http://www.justgiving.com/pbullox

I had forgot

I'm here in Birmingham at a Holiday Inn hotel ready for a meeting tomorrow. It's been about a year since I was staying in lodges during my relocation and oh boy, I had forgotten how crap it is. Sitting here on my tod, at least they've got internet access. The only alternative tonight is to go and sit with a bunch of folks from work and talk about tekky headend things. I talk about work sometimes but these guys worship what they do. They think pushing cards is a skill.. I was signing in tonight and guy came up behing me and said, "What do you think about the site clearence"... what about hi Paul, how're you doin, happy new year. Oh well that's it, nothing else to moan about so I'll sign off. The first entry of the year and I am moaning about work... I think that say's something. Bring back the days of the lunch zone, muddy days and dusty days.... quaaaaack! Out
