Kiosk Number 6 - Project Begins

Image
The drawings are nearly ready and the first lengths of timber arrived today, I can begin measuring out and build the base for the phone box this week. The base will allow me to bottom out all my dimensions for the drawings. The remaining wood comes next week and I have some time booked off work to have fun building. I'll resurrect my dads old wood plane, not been used in 25 years or more.  The drawings using MS Visio and actual measurements from my pals real phone box are looking pretty good. The replica I'm building should look like the real thing, however, some of the wall thicknesses will be less. We'll have to see how it turns out. I'm still thinking on the window methods, do I do individual windows or one pane covered by the framework. We shall see.

Welcome Reggie Bullock (AKA Silas)

Silas is here, I mean Reggie Bullock, Grandson Number 1 was born just before 9 p.m. Sunday evening. I'm sure mum and dad will do a great job, a new life begins right here, things change, things get to be fun. As a Grandad, as young fit and spritely as I am, I look forward to doing some cool stuff. I'm already planning his first electric bike, he'll be the fastest 2 years old in town.  I'm sure his mum and dad will be all about the mollycoddle but we can't have any of that, can we? Exciting times ...  Baby born in lockdown, at a time that the world is changing, for the better who knows?  He'll probably never use cash, notes and coins will more than likely be extinct by the time he's able to go in a shop, mind you, there probably won't be any of those either, unless we mean coffee shops and meeting places. A world of virtual meetings, holograms and 3D and atomic printers. You may laugh, you know its coming, automation in the world, driverless cars and

Day 20 something of lockdown, watching the news today the deaths from COVID-19 are on the increase. The weather has been great this weekend and I can't believe people insist on gathering in parks and open spaces, despite the rise in deaths and the spread of the virus. The weather brings you out but do what you need, get the exercise, stay away from others and go home and stay there. Before long I fear .GOV will be forced to lock down and stop people going out at all.  It's scary times for everyone, people are dying, the NHS heroes are having to handle these deaths every day and people are dying alone. We gotta stay home to stay safe so people stop dying and we beat it.  When we've beaten it we can all go out and have a great party, there will be a legacy left by this and that will be people knowing one and other and looking out for each other. We're in it together, we've always been in it together, life, that is. Let's see what happens on the other side. We
