Catch Up!
Michelle told me to update my Blog cos sooo much has happened and I've not got it down.
June 18th I went into hospital for treatment for my heart problem. The irregular heart beat returned and I started feeling shit, I went back to the doc who recommended some medication but that didn't really appeal to me. In hospital I had a Cardio Ablation, this is were areas within the heart are isolated by using a catheter to burn certain areas and isolate cells causing the random electrical pulses causing the irregular heart beat. phew come up for air!...
The op was successful, I was left with bruises, aches and pains for a few days that I was told was normal. The ablation should have fixed the problem alone but the doc did another Cardio Version to sort the AF. Then the twat put me on the drug Amiodorone, the one I didn't want. There are side affects with it, you can't go in direct sun shine, liver and gland problems and they affect blood clotting. I should be taken off these in October with some luck, then in March 08 be taken off the Warfarin, at least that's the game plan. So far so good.
Before the Op I had a CT and MRI scan as part of an investigation, the results of these came through last week when I was on holiday. Apparently I have some shadows on my lungs that could be a disease called Sarcoidosis, also this may be the cause of my heart problems. I've had a look on the net for what this is and the severity ranges from it will clear itself or will kill you.
I've had symptoms for some time and still have some now that may be related to this disease. A CT scan needs to be done with higher res images to check the problem. I'm waiting on the NHS now for an appointment. My med insurance has all but run out leaving me with a bill of £400.
So there we go, I've gone from Ill to Ill to really Ill in 6 months. I do make it sound worse than it is, well it can't get any worse. I really think the heart problem is doing well, I am back on the bike and really kicking the ass out of it. I'll wait now to find out about the lung thing and keep my fingers crossed that it will be OK. A positive mental attitude is what's needed. I'm telling myself that so really need to start having one eh!
The British Heart Foundation ride in June was cancelled. I would have missed it anyway so that was a bonus. I had some sponsorship but all is not lost, I've booked to the ChainBreaker on Sandwell Valley in the Midlands in October. This is another BHF ride, I've asked for my sponsorship to be transferred over to this one. Got a busy couple of months coming, I've got the Wolverhampton Marathon, The Hills Killer and the Chainbreaker.
So that's enough about me illness. I'm hoping that in time I can come back to this entry and say "remember that lot, all better now".
Out!
