Thatcham to Tipton - Err Redditch

From Thatcham to the Midlands. A small diversion into Redditch instead of Tipton. I think the ride still needs to be called the Thatcham to Tipton though. Or if it was named after reality the can't sit on the saddle because hit hurts ride. Great ride though, painful at times and really tiring but some great sites and experiences. We did the whole thing following the GPS without maps to back us up. A few detours along the way but overall we found our way. I've tried uploading the route to Google but it just won't work.... I'll look into that some more. Over two days around 65 miles a day, lots of water, bananas, serial bars and egg sandwiches.. All is good, the country side in Britain is ace. Didn't see a single fox though until we got into urban Redditch. You see you ban the hunt you the foxes aren't needed so they're eliminated from the country side.. Never mind I'm sure it will come good. Looking ahead to the rest of the year there are still some rides to do. The South Downs, Killers and I've volunteered to arrange a ride in Thatcham for the community and church. This year should be a good cycling year if I can make the time to get out there. I may need a new addition to the family though, I feel number 4 will soon be here. Some pics from the ride... We lost Zac (aka White Dog) this week, he went downhill so fast with issues with his eyes. He was a very happy dog and although his last couple of weeks were difficult he didn't suffer.  He's been a great friend to us all in the family and he'll be sadly missed. More so by Michelle, he was her shadow, always there wherever she went, if she wasn't there he'd do his best to get in your way protesting the fact she was missing. She loved him so much and she told me yesterday he loved her more, I find this hard to believe seeing the devastation his loss has brought to her. I was with him when he went to sleep, it was very peaceful, and in his last moments, he had comfort from one of his Hoomans.  Losing a pet is difficult, You'd think it's just a dog but they're so much more, so much, especially when you have a hole in your life once they're gone. A trip for work.

I thought I'd make an entry for my Blog today, doing it in multiple bits. Early start, up at five making my way over to the ferry. Travelling up to Reading today to see Richard for work. Bought myself a new multi save ticket which means that I don't have to pay the extortionate levels of price the ferries can charge. That's highly recommended if you live on the Island. Arrived in Portsmouth and the sun was blazing. For a travel up to Reading let's see what the traffic is like. I imagine it's pretty busy, yes it was pretty busy. On the way back down it wasn't too bad, lots of folks around for the D Day commemoration at South Sea, lots of boats out here too. Had a good stop off after work seeing my Grand Babies, Daughter in Law, and Son number 1 in Thatcham. Hannah made the tea and I got to cuddle. Top ending to a pretty good day. Kiosk Number 6 - Project Begins

The drawings are nearly ready and the first lengths of timber arrived today, I can begin measuring out and build the base for the phone box this week. The base will allow me to bottom out all my dimensions for the drawings. The remaining wood comes next week and I have some time booked off work to have fun building. I'll resurrect my dads old wood plane, not been used in 25 years or more.  The drawings using MS Visio and actual measurements from my pals real phone box are looking pretty good. The replica I'm building should look like the real thing, however, some of the wall thicknesses will be less. We'll have to see how it turns out. I'm still thinking on the window methods, do I do individual windows or one pane covered by the framework. We shall see.
